There are two main award types in this section
that you can vote for. An overall award for the Best Firework (of
any kind) and sub-awards for the Best Cake or Candle, Best Rocket,
Best Fountain, Best Wheel, Best Mine and Best Garden Firework. Each
one is listed below with more information and a link to the voting
form.

Award Description: The most prestigious award in this
section, for the firework voted as BEST overall.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) or category 3
(Display) firework on sale in the UK during this year.
Excluded from this category: Category 4, indoor or
theatrical pyrotechnics.
Voting help: It can be difficult to select one single
firework as the best from the hundreds of quality products
now on sale in the UK. Pick the one single firework that impressed
you the most, that impressed your spectators the most, that
you thought was the best value for money, or really made you
go "Wow!!!". If you're still torn between a short-list
of stunning fireworks, imagine you were on a desert island
and had to pick ONE firework to keep you company - which one
would it be?
Remember this is a separate award from the
ones below, if you vote in the separate categories below be
sure to vote for your overall Best Firework too.

Award description: This award is for the best cake
or candle.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) or category 3
(Display) cake or candle on sale in the UK during this year.
A "cake" is defined as any ground based firework
containing multiple shots fired from tubes. A "candle"
is defined as any ground based firework containing multiple
shots fired from one single tube. Both of these items are
normally labelled as "Roman Candle". Also included
for the purposes of this award: Single Ignition Boxes (SIBS)
or "Displays In a Box", as these are effectively
big cakes. Candle Pots, where these are bundled and labelled
as one firework. Fan cakes.
Excluded from this category: Category 4, indoor or
theatrical pyrotechnics. Ad-hoc candle fans or bouquets made
up of multiple smaller items, where the smaller items would
normally retail separately.
Voting help: This category covers a broad range of
fireworks. We have included cakes, candles and SIBS in the
same category as it is often a matter of opinion whether a
large cake qualifies as a SIB, whether a SIB is really just
a large cake, or whether candle pot is really a cake! Remember,
although fan cakes and SIBS are included in this category,
your choice should also reflect value for money, and cheaper
items should also be considered.

Award description: This award is for the best rocket.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) or category 3
(Display) rocket, rocket pack, or rocket pod on sale in the
UK during this year.
Excluded from this category: Category 4, indoor or
theatrical pyrotechnics.
Voting help: Will you vote for one single big rocket,
or a pack of garden rockets? The choice is yours. This will
be a hard-fought award with the fun-packed garden rockets
taking on the big guns. Rocket pods are included in this category.

Award description: This award is for the best fountain.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) or category 3
(Display) fountain on sale in the UK during this year. A fountain
is defined as any firework that projects an effect of sparks,
coloured sparks, crackles or similar effect from ground level
in a fountain-like effect. Conic fountains and tubular constructed
fountains are included in the category, as are fountain "cakes"
where the firework consists of multiple tubes each projecting
a fountain effect providing ALL the tubes are fountains.
Excluded from this category: Multiple fountain effect
cakes which include non-fountain effects such as mines. Any
fountain-start firework where the main effect is not a fountain
(eg. mines). Strobes and ground-based flares. Category 4,
indoor or theatrical pyrotechnics.
Voting help: Fountains are always popular with two
main effects on the market - multi-effect fountains and the
larger single effect conic fountains. Which is your favourite?
It isn't just about height. Think about duration and value
for money too, and in this category more than any other, the
rating of the firework is important (many category 3 fountains
suffer at 25m distance).

Award description: This award is for the best mine.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) or category 3
(Display) mine or mine pack on sale in the UK during this
year. A mine is defined as a firework where the entire contents
explode from a tube. These fireworks are normally labelled
as "Mine". Mortar mines and fountain-start mines
(where the fuse creates a fountain prior to the main effect)
are included. Double and triple shot mines are included providing
the effects are fired from a single tube.
Excluded from this category: Fireworks that consist
of more than one tube. Category 4, indoor or theatrical pyrotechnics.
Voting help: Another tough one with the sheer power
of mortar mines challenged by the longer duration fountain-start
mines. Think about which mine produced the most dramatic effect.
Or, if value for money is your main criteria, which mine produced
the biggest poke for the smallest cost.

Award description: This award is for the best wheel.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) or category 3
(Display) wheel or wheel pack on sale in the UK during this
year. A wheel is defined as any spinning firework designed
to be nailed to a post.
Excluded from this category: Category 4, indoor or
theatrical pyrotechnics.
Voting help: Think about which wheel produced the best
effects. All sizes of wheels are eligible for this award from
the small pinwheels up to the ball bearing mounted monsters.

 |
Award Description: This award is for the best overall
GARDEN firework.
Eligibility: Any category 2 (Garden) firework on sale
in the UK during this year.
Excluded from this category: Selection boxes, category
3 (Display), category 4, indoor or theatrical pyrotechnics.
Voting help: This award celebrates the fact that even
garden fireworks, if well designed, can provide fabulous performance,
enjoyment and value for money. This category includes any
garden firework including rockets and fountains. Think about
which garden firework produces the best effects despite its
5m restrictions, and the best value for money.
